AT&T’s plans to buy T-Mobile USA from German-owned Deutsche Telekom, a process that could take until March, would give the company more of the shrinking spectrum in the United States.

The merger may lead to some closures of wireless stores in Idaho, but the impact on consumers should be minimal, say executives of AT&T and a T-Mobile retailer.

“It’s going to be a huge boon for Idaho,” said Adam Grzybicki, president of AT&T Idaho.

T-Mobile dealers start to hang up

Kirk Brundage opened his first T-Mobile store while he was still in college, added seven more in Idaho and Utah over the next half decade, and contemplated expanding into other states.

But by the end of next week, he'll be out of the wireless business.

Mr. Brundage's plans changed after AT&T Inc. unveiled its $39 billion deal to acquire T-Mobile USA. His business was already struggling, and he had considered getting out of it. But once the merger was announced, he decided it was time to sell quickly rather than try to turn the company around.

"We loved selling the ...

Wireless not just a luxury

08.02.2010 | Posted By: BY SHERRI BURI MCDONALD
The Register-Guard

Consumers view their cell phones as an essential, not a luxury.

"Wireless has moved from nice-to-have to have-to-have," said Todd Heiner, CEO of Express Locations, an independent third party operator for T-Mobile, with five stores in the Eugene-Springfield-Corvallis area.

"When people look at cutting back discretionary spending, they'll eat out at restaurants less, they'll cut back on cable TV - but not their cell phone," Heiner said.

T-MOBILE LIMITED PARTNERS WITH MARICOPA COUNTY
SHERIFF'S OFFICE TO PROMOTE CHILD SAFETY

Free Child Fingerprinting with ID Kits for Parents to Take Home

PHOENIX (Feb. 22, 2010) - Five T-Mobile Limited stores in Maricopa County are partnering with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office to help parents record vital information about their children to help locate them in the event they become lost or missing.

According to the National Child Identification Program and the Department of Justice, an estimated 800,000 children go missing each year - that's one child every 40 seconds. The five T-Mobile Limited stores will host Maricopa County Sheriff's officers to fingerprint children who come in with their parents as a first step in completing the Child ID Kit. Parents will then be given the free kit to take home, add personal information (i.e. child's date of birth and current photo) and keep on hand in case of an emergency.

"Child safety is a top priority for the Sheriff's Office," said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "The first three hours after a child goes missing are the most critical. The information in these Child ID Kits will quickly provide law enforcement officials with valuable information, and by having the kits prepared ahead of time, parents won't have to worry about significant details that can often be hard to remember under stressful circumstances."

Maricopa County Sheriff's officers will be fingerprinting children and providing the free Child ID Kits at the T-Mobile Limited stores as follows:

Saturday, Feb. 27, from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
990 E. Riggs Road, Suite 3

Todd Heiner, CEO of Express Locations, owner and operator of the T-Mobile Limited retail stores, said, "This program is close to the hearts of the team at T-Mobile Limited and Express Locations, and we are happy to be able to help families in this small way. We invite and welcome every parent in Maricopa County to bring their children in and take this important step to securing the safety of their loved ones."
